Car Stolen During Home Invasion Found
A car stolen during a home invasion at a multimillion-dollar home was found Friday, and investigators have released surveillance video of the attack.
Houston police said a 16-year-old boy walked inside his home on Glenwood Drive about 10 p.m. Aug. 18 and two armed, masked men were waiting inside.
The men had gotten into the home through a back door, police said.
The robbers told the teen to open a safe, but he did not know the combination to it, police said.
The robbers waited at the home for about an hour until the teen's father came home, investigators said.
Detectives said the robbers forced the father, an oil company executive, to open the safe.
Investigators said the robbers forced the teenager to tie up his father with a computer cord.
The robbers got about $100,000 worth of electronics, guns and jewelry, police said. They put some of their loot in the family's luggage, investigators said.
The robbers got away with the teen's white Ford Mustang, investigators said. It was found at a southwest Houston apartment complex Friday.
Once the robbers left, the son was able to break free, untied his father and called police, detectives said.
Police said only one of the robbers spoke. Descriptions of them have not been released.
Detectives said they do not believe it was a random robbery and they do not think it is connected to other crimes in the area.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
