A burglary suspect was shot by a business owner in east Montgomery County Thursday.
Deputies arrived at the scene near FM 1314 and Little Oak shortly after 12 a.m. and found the suspect collapsed outside.
The owner of the storage facility told investigators that the alarm went off when the suspect broke into his business, so he held him at gunpoint while he was on the phone with officers. The owner said he shot the suspect in the lower abdomen when he moved toward him.
According to deputies, the building, which used to be an auction house and has been turned into a storage facility, has been broken into at least 10 times.
The 41-year-old suspect was rushed to Ben Taub Hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.
The case will be referred to the District Attorney's Office. The suspect may face burglary charges.
