Brothers use walkie-talkies in attempted burglary
Police: Suspects were trying to steal flat screen TV
Two brothers were arrested Sunday in South Houston after they tried to steal a flat screen TV using walkie-talkies, police said.
Witnesses told police that someone was trying to break into a house in the 1400 block of Avenue M. Officers saw a man jump a fence and run from the house. They found him later breathing heavily in a nearby parking lot.
The suspect, Jonquille Hardman, 20, told officers he had gotten into a fight with his brother and that's why he was out of breath. Officers took Hardman to his apartment to find his brother, Ricardo Hardman, 18.
Jonquille Hardman eventually admitted to removing window screens from the house, while Ricardo kept a lookout. The two communicated with walkie-talkie radios and were trying to steal a flat screen television from the house.
Police said they found the radios, a hammer and a wrench in the backyard of the house and in the brothers' apartment.
Both are in Harris County Jail being held on a $5,000 bond each for attempted burglary.
