Boy sent to alternative school for urinating in a water bottle
A Klein ISD seventh-grader has been sent to alternative school as punishment for going to the bathroom in a water bottle during class.
The boy was reportedly drinking bottled water in class on January 13th which according to school policy is not allowed.
The boy said he asked his teacher if he could go to the bathroom but according to reports from several students inside the classroom, she repeatedly refused. Students said at one point the teacher even said" I hope you pee on yourself."
The boy said he finally snuck the water bottle up his pant leg and relieved himself.
His family has now hired attorney Bill Hawkins to appeal the school's punishment.
"The teacher stands in place of a parent and to demean a child like that, to viciously deny that boy the most basic of human necessities. She does not belong in the classroom," said Hawkins.
Klein ISD also sent out a statement in regards to the incident.
"Klein ISD must follow proper protocol when dealing with disciplinary matters for all students and the information must be kept confidential. The same is true for matters involving employees.
"As far as bathroom breaks, the student handbook under the section Behavior of Students indicates that students will find the following suggestions helpful in maintaining a good relationship with their teachers and fellow students.
"Plan your rest stops and use the water fountain between classes.
"With that said, teachers typically handle situations like this on a case by case basis.
"To be clear on the facts, the principal issued the discipline placement and the parents are appealing that placement. The appeal process now goes to the associate superintendent of school administration, where the case will be heard and either upheld, changed or reversed."
