A body was discovered inside a Hitchcock house that had caught fire.

Firefighters got a call about the fire on Terrebonne near James around 9:10 a.m. Monday.  When they arrived on the scene, the flames had spread to a home next door.  Firefighters were able to save the neighboring home.

Once the fire was put out, firefighters found a body inside the first home.  The body was badly burned and taken to the Galveston County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy and to determine the victim's identity.

Investigators have not yet been able to locate the homeowner.

The fire is under investigation, but fire officials do not suspect foul play.
