Medical delivery van stolen outside health center

HOUSTON -

Two armed men stole a medical delivery van Monday as it made a stop at a north Houston heath center, investigators said.

Harris County Hospital District officials said the delivery driver had just dropped off medications at the Casa de Amigo Health Center in the 1600 block of North Main at around 8:30 a.m. As the driver tried to leave, two men with guns attacked him and stole the van, police said.

Houston police said the suspects were possibly in their 20s.

HCHD officials said they contract medication delivery services out to another company called Bayou City Express. They said it was one of their drivers who was targeted in the attack. He was not injured.

In a statement, hospital district officials said, "We take the provision of healthcare in a safe environment very seriously. Thankfully, this occurred outside our facility in the early morning hours before it opened to patients. We are cooperating with local law enforcement to help find those responsible."

Anyone with information on the carjacking is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
