HOUSTON -

Houston firefighters were called to put out a fire at a southwest Houston apartment complex Friday night.

Residents said they ran to safety when the fire began at the complex on Holly Hall and El Mundo at around 11:30pm.

The Houston Fire Department responded and discovered smoke coming from the second floor of three story apartment building.

Firefighters got the blaze under control.

Investigators say no one was inside that particular unit at the time of the fire but it's obvious someone lives there.

One apartment has significant fire damage.

Three other apartments have smoke and water damage.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
