ALVIN, Texas -

An Amber Alert was for a 1-year-old boy was canceled after he was found safe.

Alvin police said Manuel Recendez was taken as his mom pushed him in a stroller on West Phillips near 2nd Street about 5:20 p.m.

Detectives said three males and two females in a white Nissan pulled up and took Manuel.

Shortly after 9 p.m., police said that Manuel was found safe.

One of the suspects who knew the parents' telephone number called to say they had taken the child, investigators said. Police said they were listening in on that call.

Officials said they negotiated with the suspects to drop the boy off at Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital on Astoria Boulevard near Beemer Road.

Police said four women took Manuel to the hospital. Those women were questioned, but officials have not named them as suspects.

Detectives have not released any information about the suspects who took Manuel, only saying they are looking for at least five people.
