An explosion rocked a Baytown chemical plant on Tuesday, KPRC Local 2 reported.

The Baytown Police Department said an explosion at the Bayer plant on West Bay Road near Highway 146 was reported at about 11:20 a.m.

Plant officials said the explosion occurred in the TDI unit, which manufactures materials for flexible foam.

Ten employees and contractors were taken to nearby hospitals for evaluation.

Several residents reported hearing the explosion.
