POSTED: Monday, September 25, 2006
UPDATED: 6:56 am CDT September 25, 2006

A security guard was shot and killed after he asked a group of men with a gun to leave a nightclub, officials told KPRC Local 2.

Houston police said the shootout happened outside Club Fiesta in the 8400 block of Winkler Drive near Bendell Drive at about 1 a.m. on Monday.

Investigators said the security guard approached four men, all in their early 20s, and told them to leave the nightclub because they had a gun.

A couple of the men went to a car in the parking lot and got more guns, officials said.

The men and the security guard exchanged fire, officials said. Investigators said the security guard was fatally shot and one of the men was shot.

Investigators said the four men fled the scene in a white pickup truck. They split up into two vehicles a few blocks later.

Officers pulled over the white pickup truck on Howard Drive near Galveston Road. The second vehicle was found near Highway 225 and the East Loop.

The gunman who was shot was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital. His condition was not released.

Anyone with information about this shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
