Gasoline Prices Drop Across Texas
Gasoline prices dropped across Texas after eight weeks of near-record averages, according to the weekly AAA Texas gas survey released Friday.
The average price in Houston for a gallon of regular gasoline fell 6.6 cents to $2.859, down from $2.925 the week before.
The biggest drop was in Corpus Christi, where prices fell 10.4 cents. Motorists there pay an average of $2.749 for a gallon of regular gasoline.
The average statewide price dipped 6.4 cents to $2.873.
School districts returning to session have impacted the price reduction.
"The end of the summer driving season is getting closer," AAA spokeswoman Rose Rougeau said. "That is usually when demand for gasoline drops."
