Deputy Fights Fire With Garden Hose, Rescues Family

POSTED: Thursday, August 10, 2006

A Harris County sheriff's deputy spotted a fire, tried to extinguish it with a garden hose and rescued a family, KPRC Local 2 reported.

Officials said the deputy noticed the fire on Windriver Drive at Turtle Gate Drive at about 2:30 a.m. Thursday.

The deputy used a garden hose to put the fire out. He was not able to extinguish it completely.

The deputy banged on the door to wake up the family, who did not know the home was on fire.

The residents escaped unharmed.

The fire department put the remaining flames out.

The home sustained minimal damage.
