HOUSTON -- A man questioned as a possible suspect in several killings in the Acres Homes area has been linked to seven sexual assaults, officials told KPRC Local 2 Monday afternoon.
Houston police said Bilford Dwight Junious, 35, has been charged with aggravated sexual assault. Police said Junious was first accused of assaulting a woman in Acres Homes in May.
Investigators said Junious then implicated himself in six to seven sexual assaults.
"He has talked with us. He has given us some information that links him to several of these sexual assaults and he has been very cooperative," said Lt. Ron Walker with the Houston Police Department.
Police said a sexual assault victim gave his tag number and vehicle description to officers. He also had a Superman sticker on his vehicle, which other victims identified, according to authorities.
Investigators questioned Junious about a string of sexual assaults and slayings in the Acres Homes area, where six women have been found dead since January.
"I must stress that no one, again, no one, has been positively linked or charged with any of the six suspicious deaths in the Acres Homes community," said Vicki King with the Houston Police Department.
Officials said Junious has a shaved head and a tattoo similar to the one the suspected serial killer is believed to have.
Family members said Junious, who grew up in the Acres Homes area, recently separated from his wife. He is the father of two children.
Junious holds two jobs and coaches youth football, family members said. He does not have a criminal history.
Houston police have asked the media not to show any photographs of Junious until pending lineups are complete.
Junious' bond was set at $5 million.
Lakita Stubblefield, 21, is believed to be the suspected serial killer's latest victim. Her body was found in a field on July 19. She had been stabbed to death.
Stubblefield's family has a message for their daughter's killer.
"I want to see you punished to the fullest. Right now, I’m a father that's hurting, and my child is no longer with us. I want the death penalty. That's what I want. My child didn't have a choice," father Alvin Stubblefield said. "If it's you, God be with you."
Investigators said the serial killer has tattoos with gothic writing on his back and the scales of justice on his left arm.
He is described as a black man, 25 to 35 years old, 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet 1 inch tall, 180 to 220 pounds, with a muscular build and a small gut. He is bald or wears his hair close cut.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS. A $20,000 reward is being offered in the case.
