HOUSTON -- A homeless man was found shot to death in a parking lot Thursday, officials told KPRC Local 2.
Houston police received a 911 call about gunshots fired in the parking lot of a permanently closed Randalls grocery store in the 8600 block of West Bellfort Street near Gessner Road at about 11 p.m.
Officials said they found a black male in his 30s or 40s dead in the parking lot. He had been shot multiple times, police said.
Police said the victims was involved in an altercation with a Hispanic man in the drive-through line at a nearby fast-food restaurant about 30 minutes before he was found dead.
The victim attempted to rob or panhandle the man, officials said.
Restaurant employees told police that the Hispanic man pushed the victim and then drove away in an unknown direction.
Police said the man was driving a gray or silver sport utility vehicle with a Suburban body style.
No arrests have been made.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
