Kemp Accused Of Marijuana Possession

HOUSTON -- A former NBA star was arrested Friday for allegedly possessing an illegal substance, officials told KPRC Local 2.
Shawn Kemp, 36, was arrested in Houston early Friday morning and charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana. Kemp allegedly had two ounces or less of the drug in his possession.
Kemp was booked into the Harris County jail and released a short time later on $500 bond.
Kemp's court appearance is scheduled for July 28.
Kemp retired from the NBA in 2003 and now resides in Houston.
The Seattle Sonics drafted Kemp with the 17th pick in the 1989 NBA draft. Kemp played for the Sonics, Cleveland Cavaliers, Portland Trailblazers and Orlando Magic during his 14-year career. Kemp appeared in six NBA All-Star games and was a member of the gold-medal winning Dream Team II at the 1994 World Championships of Basketball.
