HOUSTON -- A gasoline station was forced to close for a few days after an out-of-control vehicle slammed into the pumps, KPRC Local 2 reported.
Police said the vehicle hit the pumps at the Shell station on South Post Oak Road near Willowbend Boulevard at about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.
The driver lost control and smashed into two of the gasoline pumps, officials said.
A light pole was also knocked out of place.
The owner of the station said the damage will cost at least $50,000 to repair.
"It's going to be a major, major problem," owner Danny Dhanani said. "It's a gas line underground and we have a gas line leak. They have to come and do all this underground work to see how far the line is leaking or broke,"
The station was open at the time of the crash. No customers were injured.
The driver of the vehicle was not severely injured, officials said.
Fire crews monitored the wreckage throughout the night to be sure no problems popped up.
The station will not be able to sell gasoline until the repair work is complete. The owner said the convenience store will remain open.
