Sex Offender Escapes From Halfway House

Reward Offered For Information

POSTED: Monday, July 17, 2006

A reward was offered Monday for a registered sex offender who removed his GPS tracking device and left his halfway house illegally, officials told KPRC Local 2.

Franklin Duane Walston, 55, was assigned to live at the Reid Facility at 10950 Beaumont Highway.

Authorities said he left the facility at about 8:45 a.m. Monday.

He's been charged with failure to comply with civil commitment.

He's described as a white man, 5 feet 11 inches tall, 175 pounds, with a mustache and goatee that is dark and sprinkled with gray. He has brownish-gray hair with a receding hairline and hazel eyes.

Officials said he was last seen wearing a green Hawaiian shirt and baseball cap and may be traveling in Houston by METRO bus.

Crime Stoppers will pay up to $5,000 for information leading to the capture of Walston.

Anyone with information is asked to call 713-222-TIPS.
