HOUSTON -- Vandals destroyed the air conditioning system at a northeast Houston church, KPRC Local 2 reported Monday.
Copper and metal parts were stripped off four air conditioning units at the True Faith Missionary Church, located at 5806 Hirsch, Saturday night.
Despite the lack of A/C, church services were held Sunday morning.
"The policeman asked if we were going to have services and I told him, 'Yes. Was he still a policeman if it's hot or cold outside?'" said the Rev. Johnny Boudreaux, the church founder.
The church added razor wire around the units when they were stolen earlier this summer.
"They take the copper and get $5 or so. So a $1,000 unit brings them $5. Now I am upset," said Jim Kizzee, a True Faith Missionary Church deacon.
Other churches in the area have also been vandalized, but investigators are not sure if the crimes are related.
Police have no suspects.
