Upon hearing the news in court, Aparece's uncle tried to attack Dexter Johnson, 18, as he walked out of the courtroom, according to witnesses."This is the first time he heard what they did to her," said Angelita Aparece Anduyan, the victim's aunt. "It was just too much for him."Johnson was charged with capital murder on Saturday. Police said he is the suspected gunman.Officials said Timothy Randle, 19, Alvie Butler, 25, Keithron Fields, 27, and Ashley Ervin, 17, were also charged with capital murder.Aparece and Huy Ngo, 17, were last seen June 18. Police said the couple was carjacked before they were shot and killed.Police said a person arrested Friday led them to two bodies in a dense field in the 10400 block of Gateway Drive near Deutser in northeast Houston.Police said Aparece and Ngo were not the suspects' only murder victims in a brutal crime spree. The five suspects have been charged with a total of 15 capital murder counts in connection with four deaths."We've collectively agreed that this may be the meanest bunch of guys we've come across, or just the coldest," said Officer Alan Brown of the Houston Police Department.Investigators said Johnson and Fields were the ringleaders.Weeks before Aparece and Ngo's killings, Brady Davis was robbed, shot and killed at a car wash in the 11300 block of Homestead Road on May 26. Johnson, Fields and Ervin were charged in that case. Two days after the Aparece and Ngo's killings, Jose Lopez was gunned down in the 6900 block of Annunciation Street."He was robbed and ultimately shot and left in the back seat of his vehicle," Brown said.Johnson, Randle, Butler and Fields were charged.Police said the five suspects are not part of an organized gang, but were friends or were related.Investigators said most have confessed to the crimes.Aparece's friends and family cannot believe the violence attributed to the suspects."It's totally unbelievable that these guys can do that to a very demure lady. And even one who cannot fight. It's just totally indescribable," said Norma Benzon, a family friend. The suspects were caught when one of them was arrested on an unrelated marijuana charge and confessed, implicating the others, according to authorities.Police believe they committed other crimes, including aggravated robberies and carjackings, dating back several months.
