HOUSTON -- A 12-year-old boy tied up inside his home during a robbery was able to call for help, KPRC Local 2 reported.
Police said they believe these suspects have struck other homes, too.
The alleged victims have been small business owners who were followed home. In this case, the boy's parents own several businesses. Police said that is why these burglars were in the home and put a gun to the boy's head and threatened to kill him.
After the burglars left, the boy called the Fort Bend County 911 dispatch center and told them of the robbery. Dispatcher: "Fort Bend County 911."
"Someone robbed my house," the boy told the dispatcher. "I don't know my address. They had guns."
Police said the boy surprised two armed burglars who were ransacking his parents' bedroom at their home in New Territory on Saturday afternoon.
Investigators said these burglars took the boy from room to room, demanding to know where his parents keep the cash.
Officials said the burglars grabbed a telephone cord, tied the boy up and then took off.
The boy described the suspects to police. One wore a New York Yankees hat and the other wore a T-shirt with a Texas flag.
Deputies said the composite sketches they were able to develop might be their first big break in a string of home invasions and burglaries over the last year.
Police said they suspect these men targeted at least 15 small business owners who deal in cash.
"The descriptions are very similar in that they're black males speaking Spanish," Chief Deputy K.C. Brady said. "This is the first time we've had a good description of what we think is an organized group that is conducting criminal activity in the east side of Fort Bend County and part of southwest Houston."
Police said the men wore masks in the previous home invasions, but did not cover their faces in this attack.
Police said the men got away with cash, jewelry and other valuable items.
Anyone with information is asked to call Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers at 281-342-TIPS.
