HOUSTON -- Residents of a Nassau Bay neighborhood were forced to evacuate their homes when a cannon shell was found in a home's garage, officials told KPRC Local 2.
Officials said the shell was found Tuesday by a moving crew at the home on Bal Harbour Drive near East NASA Parkway.
Crews ordered the residents to evacuate at about 7:30 p.m.
Residents were allowed to return to their homes after officials determined the shell was not a threat.
Neighbors said the previous homeowner was a war veteran. They think he may have just accidentally left it behind.
