HOUSTON -- The son of Houston Astros first base coach Jose Cruz is missing, KPRC Local 2 reported.Jose Javier Cruz, 34, was last seen on May 19.Cruz's ex-wife said she last saw him driving her pickup truck. He was supposed to pick up their 11-year-old daughter from school.He never made it to the school.
Police found Cruz's truck on fire in Katy at about 4 a.m. May 20."Time is not on our side," said Tim Miller, director of Texas Equusearch. "Being gone a week, the vehicle being found burned out and no contact whatsoever, it just does not sound good. I don't want to sugarcoat anything. This one doesn't appear, right now, like it's going to have a good ending."Karla Cruz said her ex-husband has taken off before, but he normally keeps in contact with her."He always called me," Karla Cruz said. "This is not like him to do something like this."Texas Equusearch plans to search for Cruz in the Addicks area in Fort Bend County on Wednesday.
