Kidnapped Man Shoots His Attackers

2 Suspects Shot

POSTED: Friday, May 26, 2006

A Fort Bend County man who was kidnapped shot his attackers, KPRC Local 2 reported.

Officials said the man was at a car wash in the 500 block of Morton in Richmond at about 1 a.m. Friday when he spotted several men who made him nervous. The man retrieved his gun from his car for protection.

Police said the victim, Mcron Thompson of Rosenberg, has a permit to carry a concealed weapon.

"Several suspects approached him," said Sgt. Lowell Neinast of the Richmond Police Department. "Two of them went up to him and tried to put him in the trunk of his vehicle. The trunk was full, so they couldn't get him in. They put him in the back seat."

Officials said the men drove Thompson to an alley a few blocks away on Calhoun Street and North Fifth Street.

Police said Thompson shot the two men. They then fled on foot.

The shooting scene was about a block away from the Richmond Police Department.

"Officers were standing back in the parking lot of the Police Department when they heard the shots fired," Neinast said.

Officers apprehended the two men at a food store near the shooting scene.

Joshua Payne, 18, was shot in the abdomen. He was taken by helicopter to Memorial Hermann Hospital. The other suspect, 15, was shot in the shoulder. Both men are residents of Brookshire.

Thompson was shaken up, but did not suffer any injuries.
