HOUSTON -- An
Aldine Independent School District teacher resigned after allegations that she had an inappropriate relationship with a 16-year-old student, KPRC Local 2 reported Friday.
The woman, in her early to mid-20s, was an English teacher at
Carver High School, located 2100 South Victory St.
School officials released the following statement.
"Aldine ISD and the Aldine ISD Police Department are conducting an investigation concerning allegations of inappropriate contact between a female teacher and a male student. The teacher in question voluntarily resigned from her teaching position on Wednesday, May 17. If it is discovered that criminal activity occurred, Aldine ISD will take appropriate legal action."
Students and parents were disgusted to hear of the allegations.
"Carver High School is a magnet high school. We have high standards, and for her to just come and make us known for that is just upsetting to everybody," student Ahera Rideaux said.
Rideaux said the teacher was known for being strict.
"She's not a friendly teacher. I never would have thought she would have done something like this," she said.
"There should be more screening done -- background checks for teachers. But, you really will never know -- that's just a spur of the moment thing," parent Tasha Daniels said.
The investigation is expected to take several days before a decision is made on possible charges.
The teacher's identity was not released.
