9-year-old girl sets up lemonade stand in Spring to help Dallas Police Department

HOUSTON – A 9-year-old girl from Spring is donating all of the proceeds from her lemonade stand to the Dallas Police Department.

Klaya Moore said after she learned about the tragic shooting that left five officers dead, she wanted to do something to help.

“I think they do deserve to have somebody they know who cares,” Moore said.

With the help of her mother, she painted an old lemonade stand blue and covered it with silver stars. At the top of the stand reads the phrase “Police Lives Matter.”

Saturday afternoon she served lemonade in her neighborhood, Preserves of Northampton.

“It's absolutely impressive to have such a young lady take time out of her Saturday afternoon, especially when most kids are out playing with their friends and everything else,” said Lt. Charles Hoover of Precinct 4.

Hoover and several other law enforcement officers came to the lemonade stand Saturday to show their support and make a donation.

The summer time tradition now conquering hate with kindness one cup at a time.
