Nine children escaped with only minor injuries after their SUV flipped over Friday.
The crash happened shortly before 1:30 a.m. on Highway 59 near the San Jacinto Bridge in Liberty County. Police said the mother was driving to their Humble-area home when she swerved to avoid something that ran in front of their vehicle. Police believe she over-corrected and the SUV flipped on its side.
Cleveland police dispatched both Liberty County and Montgomery County units to the scene. Authorities said when they arrived, the mother was partially out of the car. Her nine children, ages 3 to 12, were all in child safety seats or buckled in with seatbelts.
All 10 were taken to Kingwood Hospital. The mother's condition was not released. The children all had minor injuries.
Investigators say no other drivers were involved.
