HOUSTON -- A $5,000 reward was offered Thursday to find the man suspected of killing the owner of a north Houston seafood market with a machete, KPRC Local 2 reported.
Officers said Leon Lugo Andrade, 35, struck William Huang, 61, in the head with a machete on March 12 at the Lucky Seafood Market on Crosstimbers Road at Interstate 45, the North Freeway.
Investigators said Andrade attacked Huang when Huang tried to stop a fight between Andrade and his estranged wife, who was Huang's employee. Andrade's wife had a protective order filed against him.
"He caught up with Mr. Huang and hit him several times with the machete, causing his death. Mr. Huang died at the scene," said P.J. Guerrero with the Houston Police Department.
Huang's family said he was always a caring man who would risk his life to help another.
"His passion in life was to help people. There is no limit to his love," said Jade Huang-Wang, the victim's daughter. "We just ask that one of his friends or family or someone that has good in their heart, in the same spirit of how my father died, to come forward and give information to help get this guy off the street."
Andrade was last seen leaving the restaurant in a green van with Texas license plates 273-CRN. Authorities said the driver's side door is a different color from the rest of the van.
Andrade initially fled to Georgia and North Carolina, but was reportedly spotted in Houston as recently as April 4, officials said.
Anyone with information should call the Houston Police Department's Homicide Division at (713) 308-3600 or
