Accident Kills 2 Teens Riding Bike

Police Say Car Passing Other Cars Ran Over Teens

POSTED: Tuesday, April 11, 2006
UPDATED: 1:27 pm CDT April 11, 2006

Two teens riding a bicycle on a Fort Bend County road died Monday after a vehicle struck them, KPRC Local 2 reported.

Police said the boys, 15-year-old Sergio Garcia and 13-year-old Jorge Rodriguez, were riding a bicycle on Collins Road at Park Road in George Park when a speeding car approached.

"(The driver) tried to pass four cars at one time. Another car was coming in his direction, so he swerved over. There was a bicycle with two passengers riding on the correct side of the roadway. The vehicle struck the bicycle, killing both riders," Richmond Police Department Sgt. Lowell Ninast said.

The vehicle then rolled over several times and landed upside-down in a ditch.

The driver was identified as Toribio Ybarra, 19, of Rosenberg.

Charges are pending.
