HOUSTON -- A man accused of breaking into a Heights-area scrap metal shop seven times was arrested Monday morning.
The suspect was caught inside the C&D Scrap Metal facility on 25th Street at Durham Road at about 3:30 a.m.
Surveillance cameras showed the man trying to take a pile of scrap metal worth $1,500, police said.
Owner Dennis Laviage said the suspect tried to rob his business three times in March and four times this month.
"The burglary takes place for about an hour at a time. The person we caught this morning has gotten me for about $6,000 or $7,000," Laviage said.
The video also showed the suspect being arrested. Police said the suspect confessed to selling the stolen metal to other scrap yards.
