Deputies said a Fort Bend County woman turned herself into authorities Thursday for allegedly setting her dead baby's body on fire and burying it in a Needville field near her home.

Chelcey Pollock, 20, was released on bond after her surrender.

Pollock told investigators her baby choked on its umbilical cord during labor on Jan. 26 and that she burned his body and buried him in a Needville field near her home because she was scared.

Authorities said a dog dug up the baby's body on Valentine's Day, exposing Pollock's actions.

The woman has been charged with injury to a child, child endangerment and abuse of a corpse.

An official cause as to how the baby died has not been released.
