HOUSTON -- Authorities are hoping a cash reward will lead them to the killer of a hurricane evacuee recently featured in a national magazine for teens, KPRC Local 2 reported Thursday.
Tyeisha Cabrini Martin, 19, was found dead from a gunshot wound in a ditch in Needville near F.M. 361 and F.M. 1994 on March 9.
Martin was the subject of a cover story for Seventeen magazine's December issue, in which reporters talked about surviving Hurricane Katrina. She was living in the Houston area with her 2-year-old daghter.
Investigators suspect an undisclosed amount of money might have been why she was killed, and said they are investigating leads and persons of interest in the case.
Her killer remains on the run.
A $5,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and the filing of charges in this case.
