One person was killed, two people were stabbed and 83 people were arrested Saturday at a rave party on Crystal Beach. See Rave Video Footage The Lovefest 2001 rave drew crowds of more than 1,000 people to the beach and Galveston Sheriff's Department Capt. Henry Trochesset said that some the partygoers were using drugs. "X, cocaine and marijuana were the drugs of choice," Trochesset said. "Forty officers were working and there were thousands of kids ranging in kids from 16 to 25 years of age." Trochesset said that one person was accidentally killed when he was run over by a car. The two people who were stabbed were reportedly in good condition. Van Dubberstein was arrested at the rave party and he said that rave parties are fun. "A lot of people got arrested and I was charged with public intoxication," Dubberstein said. "They are just a whole lot of fun and there is usually sex, drugs and violence." Trochesset said that the party stretched for 2 miles and that there were 10 disc jockeys playing techno music. Law enforcement agencies said that they heard about the rave through the Internet, so they were able to prepare for the rave. "They came in large gatherings and we know there is drug use affiliated with the rave parties and that is why we go down," Trochesset said.
