2 Men Accused Of Carjacking Neighbor's Vehicle

Police Arrest 1 Suspect, Still Searching For Second

POSTED: Tuesday, February 28, 2006

One of two men accused of carjacking a man at gunpoint at a northwest Houston gas station was arrested Tuesday, police told KPRC Local 2.

Houston police said the suspects brought a carjacked vehicle back to an apartment complex on Crestdale Drive and Kempwood Drive.

"We came to the complainant's residence to get vehicle information, and at that time we located the complainant's car and the suspects inside the same apartment complex," Houston Police Department Officer Brian Outlaw said.

Police said the suspects did not know that they knew the victim's son.

"They realized that they had actually carjacked their neighbor. I guess, after they got inside the vehicle, they realized it was one of their neighbors' vehicles," Outlaw said.

Officers arrested one of the suspects inside an apartment. The second suspect fled the complex and remains on the run.

Police said the victim and the suspects are all evacuees from New Orleans.
