HOUSTON -- A man accused of impersonating a police officer is facing a new charge in connection with a woman at an apartment complex, KPRC Local 2 reported Monday.
Weylin Dawson Spradley, 25, was convicted in 2001 of impersonating a public servant.
He was arrested a second time earlier this month when police said he modified his car to look like a patrol car. The charge was also a violation of his parole.
Now, Spradley is accused of posing as an officer to try and force a woman out of her apartment.
Police said Spradley went to an apartment on Feb. 13 at 5:45 a.m. and tried to convince the occupant that she had no right to live in the apartment. He was wearing a light blue uniform and a gun belt, along with carrying a badge in his wallet, investigators said.
When the apartment resident told him that she would contact management to verify the information, he left.
A few days later, the woman said she recognized Spradley from a television news report. She identified him through a police lineup.
Spradley maintains his innocence. He's being held without bond.
