Can fruits and vegetables erase the signs of aging?
A Dallas doctor believes that the right kind of diet can remove wrinkles and improve general health.
Dr. Nicholas Perricone, author of the
The Wrinkle Cure, said that wrinkles can be fought with food. Women who volunteered to see if the diet worked were skeptical, but Perricone said that the diet works.
"In three days they will notice a significant increase in energy," Perricone said. "Their skin is going to glow. They are going to probably have a change in body weight."
The volunteers were instructed to eat cantaloupe, melons, berries, dark green leafy vegetables and various protein sources.
The fruits and vegetables are rich in anti-oxidants, and Perricone said that they are crucial to the plan's success.
The volunteers also had to drink eight to 10 glasses of water a day.
"If they don't see a difference in three days, then they've been cheating," Perricone said.
For three days, the volunteers followed the diet, and were glad to see changes.
"Three days ago I was rolling my eyes, saying, 'Yeah, right'. And it's just been
drastic. It's been remarkable," Chris Medina said.
"I think my skin has more elasticity," Patsy Cox said. "I don't think I need much makeup to hide whatever women like to hide. And I think it was a good improvement."
The volunteers also noticed that they lost weight, had smoother hands and felt better overall.
The book can be purchased at all major bookstores.
