FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas – A string of crimes in northeast Fort Bend County has residents on edge. Authorities say they've been called out to at least seven burglaries in a week.
A thief hit a home about 11 p.m. Friday on Ember Hollow Lane. The homeowner woke up as someone tried to get into his home.
"He managed to get his hand in and reach in and unlock it," said Hank Henderson, homeowner. "Once he did that, I guess he just reached in grabbed my wallet and it was about that time that I got downstairs."
On Jan. 6, someone got in a back window of a home on Keegans Ridge Way Drive, ate some food and took off.
One day later, someone broke into a home on Great Oaks Hollow Drive in the Great Oaks subdivision.
On Jan. 8, someone used a power saw to cut a hole in a back door to get into a home on Fechser Lane in the Aliana subdivision.
Two days later, thieves got into a back door of a home on Great Oaks Shadow Drive. They took off with watches and jewelry.
Also on Thursday, thieves hit a home on Wind Grove Court in Mission Bend. A thief got in a back door and stole a Playstation 3 and an iPad.
Also on Jan. 10, thieves broke into a home on Wahl Manor Court through a master bedroom window and stole cash and jewelry.
Crime reports show that the burglaries happened at different times of the day, from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
