M.E. Determines Chiropractor Killed Self

Autopsy Shows Woman Died From Prescription Drug Overdose

POSTED: Friday, February 10, 2006

A Houston chiropractor found dead in northwest Houston took her own life, according to an autopsy report released by the Harris County Medical Examiner's Office this week.

KPRC Local 2 reported on Thursday that the medical examiners determined Dr. Melinda Superville's cause of death was suicide due to toxic effects of acetaminophen, hydrocodone and diazepam.

Superville was reported missing on Dec. 2 and was found dead a week later inside a vacant home on Antoine near Hammerly, blocks from her home and office.

Investigators said the death was suspicious because a gun was found near her body, however, the gun was never fired.
