HOUSTON -

Arson units are investigating the cause of a deadly house fire in north Houston.

According to the Houston Fire Department, firefighters arrived at the home on Caplin and Fulton streets around 11:30 p.m. Friday.

Firefighters say they found a one-story, wood-frame house with heavy fire coming from the front.

Officials say they made a fast attack and were able to get the fire under control quickly.

Firefighters initially received reports of an elderly couple possibly being inside the home.

Firefighters eventually found the body of 69-year-old Pedro Vasquez in a bedroom.

Investigators discovered that his wife had passed away several years ago, but neighbors did not know.

Investigators with the HFD arson and HPD homicide divisions are investigating this fire.

At this time, foul play is not suspected.
