HOUSTON -- Officers said a pair of Hurricane Katrina evacuees kicked out of a southwest Houston hotel room came back for revenge and shot a security guard Friday morning, KPRC Local 2 reported.
Investigators said the two suspects had been asked to leave the American Inn on Highway 59 near Beltway 8 a couple of days ago.
However, police said the suspects returned Friday morning and shot a security guard inside the hotel's lobby shortly before 3 a.m.
A security guard at a neighboring business heard the event unfold.
"I couldn't believe what I was hearing. And then, when I heard the door slam real hard, then that's when I went over. The security guard came to the door with blood coming from his stomach, so I dialed 911," security guard Jan Palm told KPRC Local 2.
The security guard, whose identity has not been released, was transported to Ben Tub Hospital with gunshot wounds in his stomach, chest and hand.
Authorities have not released the victim's condition but said he is expected to survive.
Police said they know the identity of the suspects because they were once guests at the hotel. They were seen leaving the hotel in a gold-colored car.
