HOUSTON -- Five men have been caught engaging in public sex acts at Houston's Memorial Park, KPRC Local 2 reported Wednesday.
Houston police arrested two men on suspicion of committing lewd acts at Memorial Park after officers caught five men in a compromising position.
Officers caught one of the men engaging in a sexual act inside a restroom hidden in the trees.
"It doesn't really surprise me. I know some things are going on, but I've never seen it, never heard from anyone that has seen it," runner Kari Osnes told KPRC Local 2.
Investigators said the perpetrators are usually men looking for anonymous sex with other men. They said some of the men who have been caught are married.
Police said people caught engaging in sexual activity in public places face up to a year behind bars and a $1,000 fine.
City leaders say the park has more than 11,000 daily visitors.
