HOUSTON -- Eleven teenagers were arrested in connection with a videotaped crime spree that targeted vehicles and mailboxes in northeast Harris County, KPRC Local 2 reported Wednesday.
The two-month crime spree included 24 misdemeanor and felony vandalism cases.
Officials said the suspects drove through their own neighborhoods in North Shore and Woodforest knocking down mailboxes and shattering car windows while videotaping their crimes.
"It seemed like there was very little remorse in any of their actions -- that they were having such a good time. It didn't seem like anybody involved gave an after-thought that they were actually affecting other people's lives," said Sgt. Terry Wilson of the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
Resident Tammy Brown's vehicles suffered the most damage at $3,800 worth.
They threw a brick through the back window of her pickup truck and smashed the rear lights.
"It's a big, sinking feeling in your gut. You walk outside and it's a bad feeling," Brown said.
Investigators said they have four hours of videotape that the suspects recorded of their crimes, but did not release it in order to not jeopardize the case.
The teenagers face charges ranging from felony criminal mischief to aggravated assault with a motor vehicle.
