HOUSTON -- A feud between two Houston city council members boiled over during a council meeting at City Hall on Tuesday.
At-Large Position 3 Council Member Shelley Sekula-Gibbs accused Mayor Pro-Tem Carol Alvarado of using profanity against her during an exchange of words at a city council meeting.
Sekula-Gibbs and other council members said Alvarado repeatedly called her by a derogatory name.
"Every time I bring up the word T-ML … expletive depletives come out of her mouth. That's unfortunate, but actually they've been coming out all along. Would you like to speak in the microphone?" Sekula-Gibbs said to Alvarado.
When Alvarado was asked what she said to Sekula-Gibbs, she replied, "No, I mean, you can listen to the tape. There's nothing on the mic."
Mayor Bill White said both councilwomen should fight for their neighborhoods and not with each other.
