The U.S. Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operations officers found more than 600 pounds marijuana from Mexico Friday evening in El Paso, Texas.
Officials said the discovery was made shortly after 5 p.m. at the El Paso port of entry, when a CBP dog sniffed the cargo and alerted officials of drug suspicion.

Officers said after their examination, they removed 28 bundles of marijuana from compartments inside the metal spool.
According to acting CBP El Paso Port director Severiano Solis, the drugs were hidden inside a raveled sheet metal that was carried by a tow truck trailer.
“This is an unusual concealment method that was unraveled by the good work of vigilant CBP officers,” Solis said.
No arrests were made, and the investigation continues.
