HOUSTON -- A fatal chain-reaction accident shut down the East Loop in northeast Houston Wednesday afternoon.It happened at about 12:45 p.m. when a tow truck driver could not stop in time and slammed into several vehicles that had stopped on the freeway at the McCarty exit.A driver in a Honda died after his vehicle was pushed under an 18-wheeler.The tow truck driver was thrown from his vehicle, but his condition is not yet known.The northbound lanes of the road were shut down while police investigated the accident.
