Residents Of 4 Apartments Homeless After 2-Alarm Fire
Firefighters Determine Food Left On Stove Sparked Flames

HOUSTON -- A two-alarm apartment fire forced some residents at a Pasadena apartment complex out of their homes Wednesday night, KPRC Local 2 reported.
Four units at the Point Apartments on South Shaver Street at Crenshaw Road were damaged after food left cooking on a stove in a downstairs unit caught on fire at about 9 p.m.
"A lady was cooking and it got a little bit out of control, and we ran all over this complex trying to find a fire extinguisher," resident David Wright said.
By the time the residents found a fire extinguisher, it was too late.
"We had one fire extinguisher from a resident, and we had it almost out. If this apartment complex had any fire extinguishers at all, it wouldn't have burned the way it did," Wright said.
The fire damaged two units, and smoke damaged two other units.
KPRC Local 2 called the company who manages the complex to find out why residents had such a difficult time finding fire extinguishers, but the call was not returned.
