6-year-old girl killed in golf cart accident

Kendall Lasseter, 6, was riding with 8-year-old boy

TRINITY COUNTY, Texas – A Galveston County family and friends are grieving after a 6-year-old girl was killed in a weekend golf cart accident.

It happened Sunday afternoon in Trinity County, more than two hours north of Bacliff, where the family lives.

Investigators said Kendall Lasseter was riding in a 2010 EZ-GO golf cart being driven by an 8-year-old boy. They were making a turn when the golf cart flipped.

Kendall was taken to East Texas Medical Center in Trinity, where she was pronounced dead. The boy was not hurt.

In her Bacliff neighborhood Monday, friends mourned the loss of the little girl they described as spunky.

"It's sad. I feel for her parents. It's just so unfortunate. Nobody should have to go through that," said Samantha Camacho, whose children played with Kendall.

The Department of Public Safety said its investigation is ongoing.
