HOUSTON -

Six vehicles were involved in a chain-reaction crash on the South Loop Friday, officials said.

The Houston Police Department said the crash happened around 8:30 a.m. on the westbound lanes of the South Loop near Stella Link Road.

Officers said two cars wrecked, triggering a chain-reaction. One vehicle slammed into a retaining wall. Two of the cars were totaled, investigators said.

Officials said four people were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Three main lanes on the South Loop were closed during the investigation. They were reopened about an hour later.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
