HOUSTON -

Houston police officers are looking for several men who broke into a home in south Houston Thursday morning.

According to police, officers received a call about a home invasion that took place in the 5100 block of Canyon Blanco around 2:25 a.m.

"Several men wearing masks broke down the back door," HPD spokesman Victor Senties said. "They rushed in armed, demanding cash."

There were six people inside at the time. The thieves got away with their wallets and purses, police said.

"An officer who was patrolling the area spotted a white Acura speeding away from the scene. After a traffic stop, both the driver and passenger of the car were taken downtown and detained for questioning," said Senties.

Police believe there are other men involved still on the loose.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
