1 firefighter walks away after collision

CLOVERLEAF, Texas – Six people were hospitalized after a fire truck and pickup truck were involved in an accident in East Harris County Friday night, according to authorities.

It happened at Hollywood and Brownwood.

Four firefighters in the fire truck from the Cloverleaf Fire Department and two people in the pickup truck were taken to a local hospital. One firefighter in the truck was able to walk away from the accident. All seven people have non-life threatening injuries, according to authorities.

The accident was reported around 7:20 p.m. According to authorities, the fire truck was heading south on Hollywood toward Brownwood.

"The pickup truck apparently ran the stop sign and broadsided the fire truck, causing it to flip over," said Sergeant Richard Delano with the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

Rescuers worked to rescue the two people trapped inside the pickup truck.

Crews used two heavy duty wreckers to turn the fire truck over on its wheels after the accident.
