AUSTIN, Texas -

Emergency officials say six people have been hurt in a Central Texas house fire.

Austin Fire Department officials say the blaze was reported shortly after 5 a.m. Monday. Officials say the victims are four children and two adults.

Battalion Chief Palmer Buck says the people apparently were asleep in the small structure when the fire broke out. All have been transported to hospitals for treatment of smoke inhalation. Further details on their conditions weren't immediately available.

Authorities are trying to determine what sparked the fire.

The National Weather Service says temperatures in Austin dipped to the upper 40s before dawn Monday.
